Alfie (M18)

Rating:★★★
Category:Movies
Genre: Romantic Comedy
Finally, after all the shows about chicks screwin' around (Alley McBeal, Sex & the City, Desperate Housewives...), a movie for the guys! I'm not sayin' that it's right...but it helps to balance a bit.

Jude Law (Alfie), a limo driver in his sexual prime who can't commit to any relationship. Not only did he screwed up his own life, his gals' & his best friend's as well. Honestly, I wouldn't wanna befriend a guy like him. Always goes only with the flow of his semen...

The show is presented in a narrative manner. Jude Law is kinda like hosting the show. Sometimes, I dunno if he's reading a dialog or narration. Still, the lines are witty & lighthearted. Overall, it's an entertaining film. Reminds me of a lighter version of "The Unbearable Lightness of Being".

To enjoy the movie better, "straight" guys go see it with your guy friends, ladies should be in the company of gal (girl or dike! Doesn't really matter) friends. Not a movie for couples.

Cast:
Jude Law, Marisa Tomei *kizz~*, Omar Epps, Nia Long, Jane Krakowski, Sienna Miller, Susan Sarandon

1 star for the choice of music, 1 for the set deco & 1 for the script.

What's God gotta do with it?

Read a letter on Straits Times Forum...Why can't religious people leave thy religion to thyself? :-

http://straitstimes.asia1.com.sg/sub/storyprintfriendly/0,5578,298160-1107035940,00.html?

Free will, even animals have free will because they all have a mind of their own. That all powerful mind is your God.

Everybody should be free to choose what they want to believe. If you choose to follow Islamic teachings, Allah exists. If you have faith in Buddhism, Buddha is three feet above you, always. If you believe in Bible preachings, God is everywhere, and the list goes on.

In the case of the tsunami incident, we shouldn't question the presence of any superior being. We should ask what the victims believed in. If they believe in any omnipotent being, then they had been summoned to their respective heaven. If not, it was nature's freak accident & we are all fragile beings.

Life is that simple. We don't have to complicate things with quotes & arguments. Let everyone be. That's the true meaning of Free Will.

Hotel Rwanda (PG)

Rating:★★★
Category:Movies
Genre: Drama
Hotel Rwanda's lead Don Cheadle was nominated for an Oscar for his performance.

Based on the true story of Paul Rusesabagina (Cheadle), the house manager of a hotel in Rwanda circa 1994. During the turmoil in Rwanda, when the Hutus were killing the Tutsis like cockroaches, Paul as a Hutu himself, helped & saved hundreds of Tutsis in the hotel he worked in.

The movie reminded me of a coloured, less realistic, low budget & less dramatic Schindler's List. The subject is Top Grade, but the productions needed alot more help to make it a A Grade movie instead of an Art House film.

Cast: Don Cheadle, Nick Nolte, Joaquin Phoenix, Jean Reno

A rather slow movie, don't expect too much. 1 star for the film, 1 star for Don Cheadle & 1 star for the innocents slaughtered during the war. If the director had done a better job, this movie may make the recent tsunami tragedy looked like a walk in the park...we are talking about victims by the hundreds thousands, killed in brutality...

*Chances of Don Cheadle winning an Oscar maybe slim, but I still wish he can get it instead of Leonardo DiCoocoo.

Elektra (PG)

Rating:
Category:Movies
Genre: Action & Adventure
Elektra, nice name, cool Marvel character, but not a mainstream lead. Many knew her through her breif (to me lah!) appearances in the pages of DareDevil comics or DareDevil the movie.

How this spin-off was made? My guess is :-
I) Left over films from DareDevil
II) Left over budget from DareDevil
III) Jennifer Garner offered to do it for FREE

The movie may beat Punisher as the worst Marvel movie in recent years. Not sure if it's as bad as Catwoman...I hope not!

The plot & cast are weak, nothing in it is convincing. The action? What action?! After Matrix, Spiderman II & X2, Elektra's fight scenes were like a shaky old lady crossing the street...

Elektra shouldn't've a theatrical release. To me, it's more like a Disc 3 "Bonus Feature" material in a "DareDevil-Special-Super-Duper-Director's Cut-3 Disc Collectors' Edition DVD Set".

Cast:
Jennifer Garner, Goran Visnjic, Will Yun Lee, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, and Terence Stamp

I actually went in with low expectation, yet it's still bad...I gave it 1 star because of the Marvel logo at the opening. I was hoping that DareDevil will make a surprise appearance...(dat alone deserves another star...) but DREAM ON! Stick (Marvel fan will know him) cameoed, still...a blind old dude that's good with sticks?...zzz~

'Nuff trashin'! Don't believe me? Go see it for yourself!

iDeas that win!

PC & Mac have always been in a battle. Fighting to gain more market share. No doubt, there are more PC users, but Mac products has surpassed PCs in terms of design, reliability & branding status. It's like PCs are Giodano or Bossini Jeans, whereas Mac is Levis or Guess.

Anybody can see that the battles between the two Titans are on but we sensed no hostility. I would call them The Art of Subtleness & Grace.

Grace, something that can reflect how well one is brought up...something we lack...spore's pride - creative, is my shame.

Never have I seen such arrogance in a copycat. When zen debut, bold words were used when sim made direct comparison with iPod. Practically, stepping on Steve Job's head & spitted on his iPod.

After the recent Mac World, iPod shuffle surfaced. Obviously, the release was totally out of sim's predictions. He was caught off guard, sudden lost in direction. Yet, he put up a hostile defence. Laughing at Mac with disappointment for doing something he had done long time ago. If those thoughts of his are really true, I pity this shallow person.

To me, Mac is doing something remarkably amazing by having a backward integration.

Mac started off aggressively at full throttler with iPod, iPod mini & reached its 1st target with iPod photo. Now, while the copier is still trying to catch up, Mac turns back & picks up the market it had missed with - iPod shuffle.

By doing so, Mac can also understand & find out the real capabilities of its copier. There's no more new tech & idea for creative to copy. It's time to actually be creative & come out with something original & good, or loose the market share during coming festive seasons. Either way, Mac wins! By the way, copying...or put it nicely, improvise on iPod is a disgrace to its company name - creative! Improvement?...maybe...but definitely not creative, not by a loooooong~shot!!!

Just like during an examination - you do your papers in the fastest possible time. When you are done, you will be delighted to find out that you have time to look through it again to spot & correct any mistakes.

Anyway, 'nuff said, creative didn't pay me to give them iDeas!

ps, *psst~* do you know that nomad & zen were designed using Power Mac? Surprised?...hush...he doesn't want people to know...
pps, nomad suckz! Die on my friend in less than 10 months! Hopefully, he still has waranty...
