Sin City (R21)

Rating:★★★★
Category:Movies
Genre: Action & Adventure

Robert Rodriguez ("Spy Kids," "Once Upon a Time in Mexico") and comic book icon Frank Miller co-direct "Sin City", based on the series of graphic novels created, written, and illustrated by Miller. "Sin City" is infested with criminals, crooked cops and sexy dames, some searching for vengeance, some for redemption and others, both.

The film mainly incorporates storylines from three of Miller's graphic novels including 'Sin City', which launched the long-running, critically acclaimed series, as well as 'That Yellow Bastard' and 'The Big Fat Kill'; with an additional opening sequence, which was the test footage that Rodriguez used to get the movie greenlit, is based upon the short story, 'The Customer is Always Right', from the "The Babe Wore Red" anthology.

The Directors did a fantastic job translating these legendary stories from page to screen by remaining absolutely faithful to the look, feel and dialogue of the books (shot in Black & White with lots of narrations). As a result, pages from the graphic novels keep flashing in my mind as I watched this movie. *Speaking of which...any of you reading this borrowed my Sin City Graphic Novels, please return them to me...I missed them...

"The Customer is Always Right", from the "The Babe Wore Red" anthology - Josh Hartnett as The Man, servicing his Customer (Marley Shelton).

"Sin City" - Mickey Rourke as Marv, the outcast misanthrope on a mission to avenge the death of his one true love, Goldie (Jaime King)

"That Yellow Bastard" - Bruce Willis as Hartigan, a cop with a bum ticker and a vow to protect stripper Nancy (Jessica Alba)

"The Big Fat Kill" - Clive Owen as Dwight, the clandestine love of Shelley (Brittany Murphy), who spends his nights defending Gail (Rosario Dawson) and her Old Towne girls (Devon Aoki and Alexis Bledel) from Jackie Boy (Benicio Del Toro), a dirty cop with a penchant for violence.

A Star studded movie. Though many of their roles were small, their performances were all very impressive!

Highly recommended! Especially Dames, go watch it with your Man! As for Dudes, if you're not a fan of the Comics & you can't appreciate the mixture of Art & Gore, I have 4 words: Jessica - Alba, Devon - Aoki! That should be good 'nuff reasons! *Babes~
