War of the Worlds (PG)

Rating:
Category:Movies
Genre: Science Fiction & Fantasy
I'm not a Spielberg fan & this movie once again reassured that!

A "Summer Blockbuster" they market it as..."Block" as in "LEGO Blocks" I guess...A movie written in 1898, completed in a rush, full of flaws & ended in a rush as well....

Firstly, characters' background = "0"
Secondly, story direction = "Lost"
Thirdly, visual SFX = "1990s"

Spielberg seems to like all the irritating things about kids! From ET to Goonies to War of the Worlds. I can picture him giving direction to Dakota -

Spielberg: Tata~ all you need to do is SCREAM~!

Fanning: Tata...? Whatever...ARRRRHHHHHHH~!!!

Spielberg: Cut! No Tata~ not annoying enough!

Fanning: Ok...(deep breath)...AAARRRRRRHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH~!!!!!!!!!!!

Spielberg: Cut! No Tata~ still not annoying enough!

Fanning: What the...ok~ok~...you the boss...(deeper breath)... AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...*cough~

Spielberg: Cut! Good take! EZ $$$ yah? Now, Justin! Be an over grown BRAT will 'ya!?

I have a few tiniwini questions. If the Aliens have been observing us for gazillion years, didn't they notice all the plague, SARS & flu epidemics we went through? Or did all these happened while they were on toilet breaks? If they're so damn smart, why are they not in protective gears while roaming on a stranger planet? Superweak plot!

The only plus point for this flick is Tom Cruise. He doesn't ride on his good looks no more. He is slowly maturing into the class of Fine Actors.

Director: Steven Spielberg
Writer: David Koepp
Cast: Tom Cruise, Tim Robbins, Miranda Otto, Dakota Fanning, Justin Chatwin, Rick Gonzalez, David Alan Basche

1 Star for Tom Cruise.
